300: Rise of an Empire

300: Rise of an Empire is an upcoming 2014 American-Israeli action film directed by Noam Murro. It is a follow-up to the 2007 film 300, taking place before, during, and after the events of that film. The cast includes Sullivan Stapleton, Eva Green, Callan Mulvey, Hans Matheson, and Jack O'Connell. The cast also includes Lena Headey, Rodrigo Santoro, and David Wenham, reprising their roles from the first film. It is scheduled to be released in 3D and IMAX 3D on March 7, 2014.The composer for the film is Junkie.

Earlier the movie was entitled as '300: Battle of Artemisia' but then it was decided that it will be entitled as '300:Rise of an Empire' Even though all the heroes of 300 ended up thoroughly dead, Zack Snyder's 2007 actioner was a big success and spawned quite a few imitators, so it's getting the franchise treatment, with a new film that has been described alternately as a prequel, a sequel, and a spin-off. Whatever it is, the film has a new title.

Directed by Noam Murro, the new film centers on Greek general Themistokles as he tries to unite all of Greece. Most of the plot is set concurrently with Leonides' battle in the original film, with Themistokles leading the charge against the invading Persian forces led by Xerxes, man-turned-god, and Artemisia, the commander of the Persian navy.

"The idea of this movie was always that it takes place at about the same time of the first one," Murro told MTV News. "It's as if you zoomed out and saw a bigger time frame and told a bigger story of what happened in 300."

I am eagerly waiting for the movie....

Madras Cafe controversial, that's why it works: Shobhaa De

It's a shabaash (pat on the back) from celebrity author Shobhaa De to filmmaker Shoojit Sircar for helming a controversial movie like Madras Cafe.

"Watched Madras Cafe in a packed hall. Shoojit 'Le Carre' Sircar deserves a shabaash. Yes, it's controversial. That's why it works," De posted in a tweet Friday.

In her tweet, she made a reference to John Le Carre, a British author of espionage novels, perhaps putting Sircar on a par with him after watching the latter's political thriller.

Madras Cafe, co-produced by John Abraham and Viacom 18 Motion Pictures, is based on the Sri Lankan civil war. It was under attack by Tamil activists who alleged that it showcases LTTE cadres in poor light.

Nevertheless, the movie, which also features John in the lead role of a RAW agent, has been hailed in the film circles.

Acclaimed director Madhur Bhandarkar tweeted: "Saw the very impressive Madras Cafe! Brilliant performances from the entire cast, and great detailing and direction makes it a must watch!"

Nikhil Advani posted: "Saw Madras Cafe. One of my favorite storytellers, Shoojit Sircar keeps it pure, so damn gutsy. Kudos to pull off a masterfully crafted film."

The film also stars Nargis Fakhri and debutante Raashi Khanna.
